After 10 Years, Mobile Game "Shadowverse" Announces July Service Shutdown, Will Integrate into New Title "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond"

Cygames' hit card game series, Shadowverse, saw its highly anticipated sequel, "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond," drop last June, bringing a fresh system and new life to the franchise.

However, the original "Shadowverse" just announced yesterday (March 26) that it's calling it quits. The game will officially cease service on July 1, 2026, marking the end of a decade-long run since its launch in June 2016. "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond" and the physical card game are set to fill the void left behind.

In their official announcement, the team stated: "The original 'Shadowverse' game will conclude its service on July 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all players for their unwavering support and dedication since the game's launch on June 17, 2016."

The official statement emphasized that while the original "Shadowverse" game is ending, the series itself is far from over. The universe will continue to expand through the physical card game, "Shadowverse EVOLVE," and last year's sequel, "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond."

Of course, with the shutdown date announced, the team plans to host various in-game events over the final three months, with more details to be revealed soon.

Many players had speculated about the original game's eventual closure after "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond" launched last year. Still, the news of it pulling the plug just shy of its 10th anniversary has left many fans with a heavy heart.
