Mitsuo Fukuda, the general director for the "Future GPX Cyber Formula" anime series, also shared his thoughts:

"Condensing a 'brand new year' of racing into just 6 minutes."

This new project is a short anime, clocking in at approximately 6 minutes. But don't let the runtime fool you—it's packed with an entire "new year" of action. The limited length actually allows for a higher density and faster pace, showcasing "what's happening right now" in this world.

Story-wise, this short is a direct, legitimate sequel to "Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN." It picks up right after that epic battle, detailing the characters' new season and the dawn of significant changes. For production, we've brought back veteran staff who worked on the original series, while also welcoming a new generation of creators influenced by the show. It's truly a production where "cross-generational legacy" meets "fresh creativity."

What's more, we've revisited and restructured various settings, including race rules and machine designs. Building on the established foundation, we're reimagining everything with modern presentation, challenging ourselves to create a fresh "Future GPX Cyber Formula" image. Visually, from characters to the racing machines, absolutely no CG is being used—it's all hand-drawn animation. We want everyone to experience the incredible sense of speed, weight, and the "truly racing" realism that only hand-drawn animation can deliver.

Even though it's a short, every single frame is infused with passion that rivals any previous installment. You absolutely won't want to miss witnessing the moment this brand-new year kicks off!

▼ Director Fukuda also posted on X, confirming that production is already underway.

Meanwhile, series mechanical designer Shoji Kawamori has unveiled the design for a brand-new machine: the "Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G"! This new beast is slated to make its debut in the upcoming short anime.

Further details, including release dates, will be announced progressively. Stay tuned!
