Remember that iconic bee? Japanese game developer Hudson Soft, the studio behind classics like "Bomberman," "Adventure Island," and "Momotaro Dentetsu," may be a thing of the past, but its unique corporate culture still resonates with veteran gamers and former employees alike.
Recently, former employee Reika Oishi (@ooishireika) took to X (formerly Twitter) in Japan to share a wild anecdote about her Hudson interview back in the day, offering a glimpse into the legendary company's hiring philosophy.
Oishi recalled that it was the "employment ice age" in Japan, a notoriously tough time for job seekers, with many companies being incredibly strict and even stingy about interview travel expenses. But Hudson? Not only did they cover her round-trip fare to Tokyo, but the whole process was way more chill than she expected.

She recounted being 20 years old, rocking a standard interview suit, but with a massive black backpack slung over her shoulders. The interviewer, naturally, asked, "Are you here for an interview with a backpack?" Oishi, ever so honest, replied, "Well, since I'm all the way here, I figured I'd hit up Disneyland after!" The interviewer's only response? "...I see."
She fully expected that answer to tank her chances, but guess what? She still got the job!
Looking back on the experience years later, Oishi still calls Hudson her favorite company she ever worked for, praising her kind and dedicated colleagues.

This heartwarming interview tale once again reminds many players of the unique mark this veteran game company left on both the industry and its fans. Hudson may be gone, but that familiar "bee" logo? It's still buzzing strong in the memories of countless gamers!
