Hideaki Sorachi, the legendary mangaka behind "Gintama," previously announced his first new series in roughly seven years back in late March: "2nd Year Class B: Destroyer of Heroes" (2年B組 勇者デストロイヤーず). It officially debuted in today's 21st issue of "Weekly Shonen Jump," not only snagging the coveted cover spot but also a lead color page, delivering a whopping 66 pages. An official PV also dropped, giving fans a hilarious "behind-the-scenes" look at the "struggle" (or lack thereof?) leading up to the new series' birth.

This marks his return to the main "Jump" magazine since "Gintama" concluded its serialization there in 2018, making this his first new series in the flagship publication in about seven years.
So, what's "2nd Year Class B: Destroyer of Heroes" all about?
The story kicks off after a Demon Lord, who plunged the world into darkness, is finally defeated by a hero, bringing light back to the land. But hold on, it's not that simple! The Demon Lord left behind a clone: "Valaris III" (ヴァラリス三世). The one inheriting the Demon Lord's power, determined to revive the forces of darkness, flees the Demon Lord's castle only to arrive at... where?! And what kind of chaos will the new transfer student, "Kaimon Kai," unleash upon the school? Hideaki Sorachi is back with a brand-new "Demon Lord x Comedy" series, promising the same chaotic, meme-worthy, and utterly hilarious style he's known for.

An official PV was also released on the "Jump Channel" YouTube. But in true Sorachi fashion, it's not your typical hype-filled trailer. Instead, it's a compilation of his actual conversations with his editor from 2019 to 2026, hilariously chronicling the "birth" of this new work.
His excuses for not drawing a new series included: contracting COVID-19, adventuring in Hyrule, getting kidney stones, and... just straight-up going missing. Yep, that's peak Sorachi right there.
Fans were cracking up after watching it, commenting: "It's not an 'ending fraud,' it's a 'beginning fraud' haha," "First time seeing LINE chats used directly as a PV," "Barely any new series info, but still hilarious," and "Yep, familiar Sorachi, feeling relieved."

This new serialization isn't just about the manga itself; even the promotion is dripping with "Gintama" vibes. If you're already a fan of Sorachi's signature chaotic, witty, and irreverent style, this series looks like a guaranteed hit. It's officially running in "Weekly Shonen Jump" now, so definitely consider checking it out!
