Ken Hokazono's "Kagurabachi" Manga Gets Anime Adaptation, First PV Drops, Set for April 2027 Premiere

Ken Hokazono's manga series Kagurabachi (カグラバチ), a winner of the 2024 "Next Manga Award," has been a massive hit, especially in the West, thanks to its killer Japanese sword-fighting action.

And now, the official word is out: Kagurabachi is getting an anime! The first teaser visual and PV have just dropped, confirming Cypic will be handling production, with the series slated to kick off in April 2027.

Serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" since 2023, "Kagurabachi" plunges into a fictional, near-modern Japan. It follows young Chihiro Rokuhira, a master of enchanted blades, on a quest for vengeance against the villains who murdered his father and stole his precious swords.

With 10 volumes (including digital) already out, the series has slashed its way to over 4 million copies in circulation, making it one of Jump's hottest ongoing titles.

The newly released teaser visual is instantly iconic: three goldfish (Scarlet, Nirvana, and Brocade) swirl in the background as protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira grips his enchanted blade, "Fuchi Ten," with an intense, deadly gaze. The whole vibe is both serene and super tense, perfectly showcasing the series' unique world.

The PV kicks off in a blacksmith's forge, hammering home the central theme of "the blade," before diving into a modern-meets-traditional Japanese world. It immediately cranks up the revenge story's atmosphere to eleven.

The main cast and crew have also been revealed: Taishi Kimura voices protagonist Chihiro, Tetsuya Takeuchi directs, and Keigo Sasaki handles character design.

What's more, "Kagurabachi" marks the first anime announcement from Cygames Pictures since its rebranding to Cypic. Given Cygames Pictures' impressive track record with hits like "Princess Connect! Re:Dive," "Bravern of Bang Brave," and "The Doomed Hotel," fans are hyped to see what new levels of animation prowess Cypic will unleash.

Before the official broadcast, the anime is getting a massive global promo tour! Starting this summer, the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 will screen at anime events worldwide, culminating in a full Episode 1 premiere in Japan (complete with special guests!). It's clear this series is a big deal.

Many fans are already calling this the "Ace of Jump Anime" for the current era. If you're into epic sword fights and gritty revenge tales, get ready to mark your calendars! Stay tuned for more official updates.
