Chiikawa Lipstick Turns into a Horror Show: Fans Freak Out Over "Bloody" Design, Ask "Was This Intentional?"

A collaboration lipstick featuring the popular IP "Chiikawa" has recently gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) in Japan. What was supposed to be an adorable, sculpted lipstick design took an unexpected turn, with its actual appearance upon opening being so visually shocking that users are calling it a "one-second horror movie." The unexpected twist has sparked a massive discussion online.

One user shared that they bought the lipstick because they loved Chiikawa's comforting aesthetic and thought the 3D design was super cute. However, upon opening it, the combination of the lipstick's shape and color immediately brought to mind "something resembling a human head." They exclaimed, "It's too terrifying, I was so scared I almost cried!"

The post quickly spread, grabbing tons of attention and reposts. Many users commented that they initially found the design adorable, but their perception completely flipped once they saw the actual product:

"At first I thought it was cute, but then I saw inside and it instantly became a horror movie." "That color is absolutely not okay, it looks just like blood." "Why is it oozing like that? Super creepy." "It looks like a head got twisted off, kinda scary."

Some even jokingly referenced the famous line "Tanaka Spine Sword" from "Chainsaw Man," dubbing this the "Hachiware Spine Sword," pushing the discussion further into playful roasting and parody.

Beyond just poking fun, some users began to question whether this design was actually intentional. Comments included: "What was the product development department thinking?" "Was it supervised by the original author, Nagano?" and "It really feels like it's recreating that cute-yet-dark worldview from the series." This theory suggests the design perfectly embodies Chiikawa's signature "coexistence of cuteness and unease."

The editor actually looked it up, and this lipstick is a collaboration sculpted lipstick from the Chinese brand Pink Bear. Though, conspicuously, there are no official demo images of it being used! XD

Of course, a design like this was bound to get people talking. All we can say is... it feels both a little reasonable and a little unreasonable. Is the Chiikawa world really *that* dark? XD
