A Japanese cardiologist's relaxing day off at a public bath recently took a dramatic turn, sparking widespread discussion on X (formerly Twitter). While unwinding in the "electric therapy pool," the doctor noticed a distinct scar on another man's left chest. His professional instincts immediately kicked in, recognizing it as a potential pacemaker implant scar, and he quickly intervened to prevent a possible tragedy.
Dr. カブ(@UPto2Date) shared the incident, explaining that he was enjoying a large public bath when he spotted the man near the electric therapy pool. The prominent surgical scar on the man's left chest immediately signaled to him that it was likely from a pacemaker. Recognizing the serious risk, the doctor, despite both being completely naked, didn't hesitate. He approached the man and urged him to get out of the pool immediately.
After the story broke, some netizens wondered if modern pacemakers might be advanced enough to handle such conditions, speculating that an older model would have likely caused the man to lose consciousness and drift in the bath.
The doctor clarified that since he couldn't determine the specific model on the spot, his priority was to ensure the man's safety by asking him to leave the pool. He lightheartedly added that while such a request in a bathhouse might have been confusing at first, the man understood once the situation was explained.
For most people, electric therapy pools are just a relaxing amenity with massage benefits. However, for individuals with pacemakers, the electrical currents in these pools can interfere with the device's operation, potentially leading to severe consequences.
What truly impressed everyone was the doctor's swift and accurate judgment. Netizens were quick to praise him, exclaiming, "A superhero appeared in the public bath! He's a lifesaver!" and "Even on vacation, his medical instincts are sharp – this doctor is incredibly cool." Many also admitted they had no idea that people with pacemakers shouldn't use electric therapy pools.

It's incredibly fortunate that the man encountered a doctor with such professional insight. Had the electrical currents truly interfered with his pacemaker, the outcome could have been dire!
