"Captain Tsubasa 2: World All-Stars" Locks in Late August Release Date, Igniting Soccer Hype with First New Console Game in 6 Years!

First revealed during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase back in February, Bandai Namco has officially announced the next chapter in the Captain Tsubasa saga with Captain Tsubasa 2: World All-Stars—the first new console installment in six years.

Mark your calendars! The company confirmed today that Captain Tsubasa 2: World All-Stars will launch on August 27, 2026, with the Steam version dropping a day later on August 28. Pre-orders for physical and select digital editions are now live.

It's been a long wait since 2020's Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, and Captain Tsubasa 2: World All-Stars is set to deliver the largest volume of content in the series' history, complete with massively enhanced on-field action and animations.

The game is based on the manga's iconic "World Youth" arc and features an original "Story Mode" supervised by series creator Yoichi Takahashi. It also includes robust online and offline versus modes. Get ready for an unpredictable, "next-gen soccer action experience" where you can chain together over-the-top Super Moves and spectacular team plays.

National teams from around the globe are joining the fray. All the classic special shots you know and love are back, but this time they're joined by a host of flashy new dribbles, tackles, and other special moves, letting players experience the series' signature high-octane, super-powered soccer firsthand.

Bandai Namco also dropped two new videos to celebrate the announcement:

▼ Story Trailer

Set to the classic Captain Tsubasa anime theme song "Moete Hero," this trailer showcases an all-new original story. Four years after the intense battles of the previous game, Tsubasa Oozora leads the Japan national team to once again challenge the world's best. The story will even feature teams and plot developments that weren't fully explored in the original manga.

As a bonus, this version of "Moete Hero" has been newly arranged by composer Tadayoshi Makino (Spin Solfa).

▼ Special Interview with Yoichi Takahashi

In this video, Takahashi-sensei himself discusses the game's evolution from its predecessor and the core themes he wanted to convey in the original "World Youth" arc. He also shares insights into what he focused on while supervising the new story, making this a must-watch for fans.

Pre-orders for physical and select digital editions are now open, with the Collector's and Deluxe editions also available for reservation.

Early physical purchases and digital pre-orders will receive the official Japan Football Association (JFA) licensed "Japan National Team 2026 Kit" for characters to wear in-game. Additional bonuses include:

Japan National Team kit from the "World Youth" arc

Early unlock for two in-game items

Owners of the previous game, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, will also receive an exclusive bonus.

The Season Pass特典 will include new characters as well as an exclusive black soccer ball for use in-game.

Captain Tsubasa 2: World All-Stars launches on August 27, 2026, for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S (digital only), and Steam (digital only). Pre-orders for the physical Collector's, Deluxe, and Standard editions are now available.
