Rat infestations have become an increasingly noticeable problem in urban areas lately. Especially around train stations, bustling dining districts, and other high-traffic zones, spotting wild rats isn't just common – it's turning into a major headache for public health and environmental management.
Recently, the Japanese YouTuber group "LASTCHEERZ," known for their over-the-top stunts, decided to tackle this issue head-on. They headed to the busy streets of Shinjuku for a "street rat challenge," and the chaotic footage quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, several group members, armed with gloves and empty cardboard boxes, launched into a full-blown rat chase amidst the throngs of people in Shinjuku. The rats, quick and elusive, led them on a wild pursuit. At one point, a member even dove to the ground like a soccer goalie, trying to block a fleeing rat with their entire body.

For most viewers, the immediate reaction wasn't laughter, but concern. "Is this really okay?" many wondered. Others quickly pointed out the potential health risks, like contracting Hantavirus if bitten by a rat. Some netizens were even more direct, pleading, "Please don't joke about this," and "Seriously, cut it out!"

However, some viewers took a lighter approach, quipping, "Is this Shinjuku's new trending game?" Others even noted that the rats in the video were actually quite small, adding, "The big ones are almost the size of small cats!"

Rats are incredibly adept at finding ways to survive in tight spaces, making them notoriously difficult to control. But rather than chasing them through the streets, focusing on proper waste management, environmental sanitation, and professional pest control is likely a far more practical solution.
