Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) recently announced that PlayStation Plus prices will increase for new subscribers in select regions, citing "ongoing market conditions" as the reason. According to an announcement from PlayStation on X (formerly Twitter), the new pricing will take effect on May 20, 2026, for new customers in specific territories.

The official statement indicates that PlayStation Plus 1-month subscriptions will start at $10.99 / €9.99 / £7.99, while 3-month subscriptions will start at $27.99 / €27.99 / £21.99. However, this adjustment does not apply to current subscribers unless their existing plan changes or they rejoin after their subscription expires. Existing subscribers in Turkey and India are not covered by this exemption.

External media outlets speculate that the phrase "prices will start at" likely refers to the base PlayStation Plus Essential tier, which primarily offers online multiplayer and a selection of free monthly games. It remains unclear whether the higher-priced Extra and Premium tiers will also be affected.
Note: Financial figures and earnings forecasts should be confirmed through the company’s official announcements.
