ASUS recently showcased a custom "Cyberpunk 2077"-themed ROG Ally X handheld gaming PC. This unique creation is a collaboration between ASUS, the game development team, and Taiwanese modding specialists AK Studio, also known as AK Mod. ASUS emphasized that this is a one-of-a-kind professional modification and not an upcoming retail model.

This "Cyberpunk 2077" version is built upon the ROG Ally X, featuring standard specifications that include an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 1TB SSD, an 80Wh battery, and a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz display. Official images reveal the handheld boasts a distinct futuristic, sci-fi design, echoing "Cyberpunk 2077"'s iconic yellow visual palette and its high-tech, street-style elements.
Currently, ASUS has not disclosed whether this special edition will be released via a lottery, nor has it mentioned any retail plans or mass production possibilities. As such, it appears to be a concept piece primarily intended to demonstrate the modding potential of the ROG Ally series.

This unveiling has also sparked discussions surrounding the ROG Ally product line. In recent years, ASUS has progressively launched multiple handhelds, including the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X. However, the company has yet to introduce game-themed versions or limited-edition shells for the Ally series. In contrast, ASUS already has extensive experience with themed designs across its other ROG hardware products, while the Ally series has largely remained limited to black and white color options.
For the handheld gaming PC market, such custom creations highlight the potential for greater aesthetic variety. As competition intensifies in the handheld space, future collaborations, themed colorways, or limited editions from ASUS or other brands could emerge as a new strategy to attract collectors and drive consumer purchases.
