This 'Elden Ring' Crucible Knight Cosplay Is Epic — And Made From Dollar Store Foam!

We've seen our fair share of incredible cosplay, and in the world of costume crafting, many dedicated fans pour their hearts into making their own props and outfits. The goal? To perfectly capture the essence of their chosen characters and the worlds they inhabit.

Recently, Japanese cosplayer Hachimitsu (@HATIMITUcos) blew up on X (formerly Twitter) after sharing their self-made "Crucible Knight" costume from "Elden Ring." The bronze-hued armor perfectly embodies the character's mysterious and intimidating presence from the game. What's truly mind-blowing is that this incredibly detailed outfit was crafted using readily available interlocking foam mats from a 100-yen store (think dollar store)! Netizens were stunned by how such an intricate design could come from such humble materials.

Hachimitsu explained that ever since they started making cosplay props in high school, a tight budget led them to choose these affordable foam mats as their go-to material. They also noted that foam mats are lightweight and flexible, making costumes easier to move in and transport. With a bit of know-how, they truly are a fantastic material for creating costumes and props.

For this "Crucible Knight" costume, while the helmet and knee sections use 5mm EVA foam for added thickness, the vast majority of the armor was built upon a base of those trusty foam mats.

While foam mats might require a bit more maintenance after use, the freedom of movement they offer and the ease of getting ready for events make them a top choice. As a cosplayer who loves armored characters, Hachimitsu highly recommends them for your next build!
