Yoshihiro Togashi's "Hunter x Hunter" finally made a triumphant return to "Weekly Shonen Jump" in October 2023 after a lengthy hiatus. But just as fans were celebrating, the manga went on break again after chapter 410. While Togashi-sensei has been dropping updates on X (formerly Twitter), it seems like a full comeback is still a little ways off.
No return date yet for the manga itself, but Shueisha's official website just dropped some massive news on the 1st: "Hunter x Hunter" Volume 39 is officially hitting shelves on July 3rd! Naturally, the internet went absolutely wild.

▼ The announcement immediately blew up on X, becoming a trending topic.

This new volume marks the first release in roughly two years, with Volume 38 having dropped way back on September 4, 2024. Volume 39 clocks in at 208 pages. Given that Volume 38 covered chapters 391 to 400, and the series is currently on hiatus after chapter 410, it's a safe bet this new collection will catch us up on the chapters released since then.

But here's the kicker: Yoshihiro Togashi himself previously hinted on his personal X account that the serialization schedule *after* chapter 420 has already been decided. He urged fans to wait for the official announcement from Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" editorial department, suggesting that the return date is just waiting for the green light.

And get this – on May 26th, he even confirmed that the manuscript for chapter 421 is complete! So yeah, Togashi-sensei is definitely putting in the work.

Shueisha had previously announced that "Hunter x Hunter" would continue serialization in a different format, which hopefully means less weekly pressure for Togashi-sensei. This new approach should allow him to balance his health with completing the work. All we can do now is patiently await Shueisha's official announcement for the series' grand return!
