Pigeons and other birds nesting or perching on home balconies, often leaving behind droppings, are a perennial headache for residents. To tackle this persistent problem, the internet is awash with various bird-deterrent hacks.
Recently, Japanese X user りあん(@misslanvin000) shared her ingenious solution: a fake crow crafted from black plastic bags, hung on her balcony to scare off pigeons.
She initially just wanted to experiment, shaping a black plastic bag into a crow with flapping wings. The result was surprisingly realistic, and to her delight, pigeons from the building next door genuinely steered clear of her balcony. The bird-scaring effect was seriously good!
Netizens were absolutely stunned by the finished product, exclaiming that its realism was beyond imagination. At first glance, it looked exactly like a real crow hanging on the balcony, creating an incredibly strong visual impact.
Some users admitted they had to do a double-take, struggling to believe it was just a fake crow made from plastic bags. Comments poured in like, "I looked three times and still thought it was real," and "So realistic I almost thought the crow was being tortured."
Others joked that anyone seeing the fake crow from a distance, unaware of its true nature, might mistake it for an animal abuse incident and even worry about someone reporting it.

The sheer number of bird-deterrent hacks out there clearly shows just how annoying bird problems on Japanese balconies can be. It's common to see people hanging old CDs on their balconies to scare birds away with reflected light. People are really pulling out all the stops to keep those feathered friends at bay!
