CLAMP's classic series Magic Knight Rayearth is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a brand-new anime adaptation, and it's officially set to premiere this October! The launch window was confirmed during the Anime Japan 2026 event back in March.
Today, the production revealed additional cast members joining the lineup. Saori Hayami will voice Princess Emeraude, and Yuki Ono will take on the role of Zagato. The fan-favorite creature, Mokona, will be voiced by Mika Kikuchi.

Magic Knight Rayearth began as a manga by CLAMP in 1993, serialized in Kodansha's shojo magazine Nakayoshi. Though it spanned only three volumes, its story was considered incredibly innovative for a shojo series at the time, featuring three schoolgirls transported to another world where they become knights who pilot giant mechs. The series left a lasting impression on fans and was followed by a sequel, Magic Knight Rayearth 2.
This new project comes 29 years after the 1997 OVA.

The team also announced that Magic Knight Rayearth will have a presence at Anime Expo 2026, North America's largest anime convention, held from July 2-5. The world premiere of the first two episodes is scheduled for July 4th from 12:00 PM to 1:20 PM (US time), which is July 5th from 4:00 AM to 5:20 AM JST.
Rie Takahashi (voice of Fuu Hououji) and Saori Hayami (voice of Princess Emeraude) will be on stage to greet fans at the event.

The previously announced main cast includes:
Hikaru Shidou: Ayane Sakura
Umi Ryuuzaki: Rumi Okubo
Fuu Hououji: Rie Takahashi

The newly added cast members are:
▼ Princess Emeraude (CV: Saori Hayami)
Saori Hayami commented: "The stories, characters, and dialogue created by CLAMP have always deeply moved me and given me strength. I'm incredibly honored to be part of this new Reiwa-era Magic Knight Rayearth. With deep respect for this classic series, I'm working alongside a trusted cast to bring Princess Emeraude's delicate emotions to life through my voice. I hope everyone looks forward to the broadcast."

▼ Zagato (CV: Yuki Ono)
Yuki Ono stated: "I'm Yuki Ono, and I'll be voicing Zagato. That's right! Zagato from Rayearth! I knew from the audition that this would be a challenging role, which makes it all the more rewarding. I was thrilled when I found out I was cast. While I can't reveal much about the story yet, I want to stay true to his inner 'wish' as I portray him."

▼ Mokona (CV: Mika Kikuchi)
Mika Kikuchi shared emotionally: "Voicing the white Mokona in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle was the starting point of my voice acting career. Before I knew it, over 20 years had passed. I always hoped I'd get to meet Mokona again someday, and I can't believe it's really happening! Mokona has always given me courage and energy. Now, I'm on a new journey with three beautiful, pure, and strong Magic Knights, and I hope everyone will watch over us warmly. Both the me from back then and the me of today will pour my heart into this role."
The new Magic Knight Rayearth TV anime is scheduled to premiere in October 2026. After 30 years, this classic that was part of so many childhoods is finally making a comeback. New and old fans alike are surely hyped to see the three Magic Knights embark on their adventure once again.
