Street Fighter 6 has been absolutely crushing it since launch, consistently maintaining its high popularity and remaining a top pick for streamers and a staple in the fighting game community, with countless tournaments keeping players hooked.
At Summer Game Fest 2026, Capcom officially announced that the beloved Tifa Lockhart from "Final Fantasy VII" will be joining "Street Fighter 6," sending shockwaves through the global gaming community. Tifa is set to enter the ring as one of the characters in "Street Fighter 6"'s Year 4 Season Pass.
During the Summer Game Fest 2026 stage event, "Street Fighter 6" Director Takayuki Nakayama personally took the stage to explain, "From her outfit to her moves, we've completely reimagined her, crafting a Tifa that truly belongs in the Street Fighter universe."
This means players won't just be seeing a direct port of "FF7"'s Tifa; instead, it's a fresh, "Street Fighter"-style reinterpretation.
Beyond the character herself, Capcom also dropped another bombshell: "FF7"'s iconic Materia system will be integrated into "Street Fighter 6"'s combat in a brand-new way. Director Nakayama stated, "Materia has been redesigned into a new battle system." While official details on the exact mechanics are still under wraps, it's confirmed to be more than just Materia.
"Street Fighter 6" recently rolled out Ingrid, the final character for its Year 3 Season Pass, and now Capcom has immediately unveiled its Year 4 development plans, underscoring the game's commitment to continuous content expansion.
Here's the planned Year 4 character lineup:
Yasmin (New Original Character) – August 3, 2026
Arjun (New Original Character) – Fall 2026
Tifa ("FF7" Guest Character) – Early 2027
Bosch (Character from World Tour Mode) – Spring 2027
Unsurprisingly, Tifa's inclusion is stealing the spotlight. Players are already buzzing to see how her iconic brawling style will stack up against legends like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Akuma in the "Street Fighter 6" arena.
