This year, the long-running Super Sentai tokusatsu franchise wrapped up with the finale of *Daiichi Sentai Go-Jusha*, making way for an all-new tokusatsu initiative: PROJECT R.E.D. The project kicked off with its first entry, Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity.
And they're not wasting any time. On June 22, the second series under the PROJECT R.E.D. banner was officially unveiled: Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn, set to premiere on July 26. The announcement dropped alongside a key visual, a teaser trailer, and the main cast list, immediately sparking hype with its epic Horned Beast and striking red hero.
The story centers on Shout of the Flame, a treasure hunter who makes a living deciphering ancient texts, exploring ruins, and selling the artifacts he unearths.
One day, he stumbles upon Enkaku, the legendary King of the Horned Beasts, a colossal creature who can also take on a demi-human form. This fateful encounter flips Shout's world upside down. Though the two are constantly at odds, they forge an unlikely partnership, embarking on a journey where they'll meet a variety of Horned Beast Hunters and engage in fierce "Hunter Battles."
▼ Shout of the Flame / Captain Omega Horn, played by Sei Narahara
A young treasure hunter whose life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers the "Omega Horn" in a ruin, a device once wielded by a legendary ancient captain. He is destined to battle, team up with, and grow alongside a diverse cast of Horned Beast Hunters.
▼ Enkaku, played in his demi-human form by Masahiro Kunigami
The ancient King of the Horned Beasts, sealed away within an "Ego Gear." While he typically appears in human form, his true self is a massive Horned Beast. Enkaku carries the regal air of a king but is hilariously out of touch with the modern world after his long slumber.
He sees the makings of a "king" in Shout—someone with a powerful "Ego," or a will that never wavers—and decides to mentor him into a true captain.
▼ Giriko of the Wave-Slash, played by Nanaha Itose
A Horned Beast Hunter from the same generation as Shout. Giriko takes a special interest in Shout and Enkaku, appearing and disappearing wherever they go. Sometimes an ally, sometimes a foe, she's a cunning and unpredictable character who can channel the power of the "Slashing Horn" and is a master of the greatsword.
▼ Ival the Tyrant, played by Shogo Tazuru
The ambitious and overwhelmingly powerful leader of the "Ival Alliance." With a massive force of hunters at his command, he aims to expand his territory and take control of the world. Ival is no armchair general; he's a skilled fighter who joins the fray himself, wielding a unique Horn-Awakener and the power of a Horned Beast.
▼ Zetsuenkaku, played in his demi-human form by Eito Konishi
Ival's partner Horned Beast. Unlike the other beasts who follow Ival, Zetsuenkaku stands as his equal and usually maintains his human form. His name bears a striking resemblance to Enkaku, but the nature of their connection remains shrouded in mystery.
The World of Horned Beasts and Ego Gear
In the ancient past, Earth was dominated by colossal lifeforms known as "Horned Beasts." At some point, these creatures were sealed away into devices called "Ego Gears" and vanished from the world. Fast forward to the present day, where humans known as "Hunters" have learned to use "Horn-Awakeners" to tap into the power sealed within the Ego Gears.
Our story kicks off when Shout discovers a mysterious Horn-Awakener unlike any modern device at an ancient altar—the "Omega Horn." When he inserts an Ego Gear, he awakens Enkaku, the slumbering King of the Horned Beasts. Seeing kingly potential in Shout, Enkaku recruits him to fight by his side as "Captain Omega Horn."
The world is filled with various Ego Gears, and Hunters battle to claim them for their own ends—some to achieve their dreams, others to conquer the world. These clashes, known as "Hunter Battles," are high-stakes duels for control of the Ego Gears. Through his partnership with Enkaku, Shout will sharpen his own "Ego" and grow into the hero he's meant to be.

▼ Teaser Trailer for "Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn," the second series from "PROJECT R.E.D."
*Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn* is scheduled to premiere on July 26. Based on the initial reveals, the series is blending a ton of classic tropes: tokusatsu hero transformations, giant monsters (the Horned Beasts), collectible gadgets (Ego Gear), a buddy-adventure dynamic, and competitive "Hunter Battles." The whole vibe feels like a fresh cocktail mixing elements from *Kamen Rider*, *Super Sentai*, and monster-partner anime.
What new ground this series will break remains to be seen, but we'll definitely be watching to find out.
