The new "Blade" film, first announced back in 2019, has struggled to get off the ground after seven years in development. The project has seen multiple directors and writers come and go and is currently on hold, leaving Mahershala Ali, the new Blade, waiting seven years to begin filming. However, Ali hasn't been idle, teaming up with Bassam Tariq—the director originally attached to the MCU's "Blade"—for a different original action movie.
Titled "The Plot," the film's first official trailer has just been released. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in North America on September 25, followed by a wider rollout on October 9.

The film, also penned by Tariq, features a cast that includes John Cho, Giancarlo Esposito, Tramell Tillman, and Tiffany Boone. In the movie, Ali plays Latif, a devout man struggling to balance his violent line of work with his faith and his responsibilities as a father. Following his wife's death, Latif is forced on a desperate journey across Houston to protect his child as dangerous forces close in, causing his own faith to begin to waver.
