DC Crime Series Taps Comedian for Gorilla Grodd Voice; Project Could Adopt "Peacemaker" Comedic Tone

DC Studios' "DC Crime" series, centered on Jimmy Olsen, has reportedly seen new developments. Starring "Superman" actor Skyler Gisondo, the project is set to unfold as a true-crime documentary, following the Daily Planet photographer as he investigates various DCU villains. A central figure in his investigations will be Gorilla Grodd, one of The Flash's primary antagonists.

According to Nexus Point News, the series is slated to film in Atlanta from August to October 2026, following the conclusion of "Tomorrow's Children" production.

The report also indicates that the series was previously delayed due to budget concerns, but casting is now underway. The production team is reportedly seeking an actor with a comedic background to voice Grodd, suggesting the show may adopt a comedic tone similar to "Peacemaker."

Additionally, DC Studios is also casting for other super-powered characters and a lawyer. Speculation suggests Grodd might face trial in the series, though there are currently no indications of The Flash making an appearance.

James Gunn and Peter Safran will serve as executive producers, with Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, known for "American Vandal," handling writing, directing, and showrunning duties.

Gunn previously stated that the project is "both a Jimmy Olsen show and a Gorilla Grodd show," calling it one of his favorite upcoming ventures. Based on the current filming schedule, the series is expected to debut on HBO Max next year.
