Illustrator NAGANO's hit series, "Chiikawa," has taken the world by storm! After its anime adaptation, the unique style captivated even more fans, leading to a flood of merchandise. This July, fans can look forward to the first theatrical film, "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island."
To celebrate the movie's release, Japanese tech giant Panasonic has announced a special collaboration: limited-edition alkaline dry cell batteries that faithfully recreate "that iconic battery" from the original "Mermaid Island Arc." These collectible batteries will hit shelves on July 10th at the official Chiikawa online store, various merchandise shops, and movie-related retail channels.
This particular battery first appeared during the "Mermaid Island Arc" when it was serialized on the official X (formerly Twitter). It's a white battery featuring the yellow number "3."
These collaboration batteries aren't just cute; they're built to last! They leverage Panasonic's renowned EVOLTA-level technology, which boasts Guinness World Record-certified long-lasting performance. This means they're not only durable but also have an excellent shelf life, offering peace of mind even in unexpected situations.
The packaging itself is a treat, featuring adorable illustrations of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi. Plus, it perfectly recreates the "3" mark seen on the battery in the film, bringing the in-story prop to life.
Each set includes two AA alkaline dry cell batteries:
A design that faithfully recreates the prop from the movie
A charming design featuring Chiikawa and friends lined up
Many fans have expressed that this item brings a smile to their face, yet also evokes a bittersweet feeling due to their knowledge of the story's events. Still, for anyone who loves the "Mermaid Island Arc," this limited-edition collectible is an absolute must-have!
