Marvel Rivals: Captain America Swimsuit Skin Patched After 'Excessive Bulge' Goes Viral; Players Cry Double Standard Over Nerfed Crotch Physics

NetEase's Marvel hero third-person shooter, "Marvel Rivals," recently launched a new Captain America "Beach Captain" swimsuit skin that quickly went viral on social media. The skin's extremely prominent crotch bulge and jiggle physics led many players to initially believe it was a mod, only to confirm in-game that it was indeed part of the official release.

However, the skin was quickly adjusted in a subsequent update. Many players noticed that while Captain America's bulge remained quite prominent, its jiggle physics had been significantly toned down. One Reddit user quipped that the skin was "so controversial the devs had to release a 'hot fix'," while others jokingly dubbed the update a "cold fix."

Player data mining observations suggest that the model itself hasn't been reduced in size. Instead, the bone rigging and positioning were adjusted to prevent it from "flailing around" during character animations. One player bluntly stated that "they just changed the bone rigging so it wouldn't be ready to poke someone's eye out in certain emotes."

This update consequently sparked another wave of discussion, with some players questioning why "Marvel Rivals" was not as proactive in addressing past criticisms regarding the over-sexualization of female character skins, yet the Captain America swimsuit skin was adjusted in less than a week after gaining traction.

An X (formerly Twitter) user, adam whorelock, commented on the situation:

NetEase has yet to issue an official statement on whether this adjustment was a technical bug fix or a direct response to overwhelming community feedback.
