“Injustice 3” Rumored in Development: Official Polls Hint at Series Return, Potentially Echoing “DC K.O.” Comic

NetherRealm's DC Comics-adapted fighting game series, "Injustice," has yet to officially announce a third installment, but has recently reignited high fan anticipation. Ed Boon, co-creator of "Mortal Kombat" and director of the "Injustice" video game series, recently launched a series of polls on X (formerly Twitter), asking players to vote for their favorite Super Moves from characters in the original "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

The poll matchups included Hawkgirl vs. Joker, General Zod vs. Killer Frost, Nightwing vs. Raven, and Green Lantern vs. Cyborg.

While Boon did not explicitly state that these polls were related to a new game, his specific focus on original "Injustice" characters and Super Move designs led fans to quickly interpret this as a strong hint for "Injustice 3." Consequently, many players commented, expressing hopes for an announcement soon, with some exclaiming, "I really hope so, please."

Notably, some fans speculate that "Injustice 3" might not use a numerical title, but could instead be named after a recent DC Comics crossover event, "DC K.O.," potentially drawing plot inspiration from that comic storyline. Industry outlets suggest Boon might also be gauging reactions to popular original characters and their Super Moves before finalizing the returning roster.

If the rumors prove true, the game would arrive at a time when the DCU's reception has been mixed, yet DC Comics' "Absolute Universe" has seen significant popularity, positioning it as a major upcoming DC IP title and reigniting anticipation for players who have long awaited NetherRealm's return to the DC fighting arena.
