“Avengers: Doomsday” Concept Art Unveiled, Sparks Controversy Over Missing Characters; Kevin Feige Calls X-Men and Fantastic Four Crossover a "Dream Come True"

Marvel Studios recently released the first official concept art for "Avengers: Doomsday," marking the first time the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom have appeared together in a single poster.

Despite the impressive lineup, many fans on social media expressed disappointment over the absence of several key heroes, including Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Jean Grey, and America Chavez, who was previously considered a crucial character in the Multiverse Saga.

With Marvel having previously revealed some cast members through "chair lists" (casting announcements) and now the concept art, it is widely believed that the characters featured on the poster represent the film's primary roster. For some fans, the MCU's introduction of numerous new characters since Phase Four, coupled with the absence of several important figures in this major assembly, has sparked debate over the casting choices.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently spoke to fans in Shanghai about the film, stating that "Avengers: Doomsday" focuses on "bringing together characters who really shouldn't be together."

"That's the core of Marvel, bringing together heroes who might not get along and forcing them to do what's best for the world. To see the X-Men, the Avengers, the New Avengers, and the Fantastic Four all together is a dream I never thought would come true," he further explained.

"I can't wait for all of you to see 'Avengers: Doomsday.' After that, we have another movie called 'Avengers: Secret Wars,' and after that, the mutants will arrive, and the X-Men will arrive, which has always been my dream. I started with the X-Men many, many years ago, and bringing a brand new version into the MCU will be incredibly exciting," Feige added.

"Avengers: Doomsday," directed by the Russo Brothers, is scheduled to be released in North America on December 18, 2026.
