Tom Holland Reveals "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Action Scenes Inspired by "Marvel's Spider-Man" Game, Finishers Hidden as Easter Eggs

Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" officially hit theaters on July 29, 2026, continuing to garner widespread critical acclaim from fans globally. The film's highly praised action design, in particular, has been a major talking point, with the director previously mentioning that the visual presentation heavily pays homage to Insomniac Games' "Marvel's Spider-Man" series.

Tom Holland, who stars in the film, recently revealed that many action sequences were indeed inspired by the game, even bringing the game's iconic "finishers" to the big screen, which have become one of the Easter eggs fans and players are searching for.

In a recent interview with IGN, Holland shared that he had trouble sleeping the night before a promotional event due to excessive excitement, eventually deciding to play "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" to relax.

"I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited for today. I kept thinking about what I should do, and then I thought, 'Why not just open the game and play for a bit?'" he said.

Discussing how the game influenced the film, Holland further confirmed that "many action sequences" in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" were drawn from Insomniac's work, particularly referencing numerous finishers.

"We have a lot of action designers and stunt people who are hardcore gamers themselves," Holland stated. "They would directly capture footage of moves they particularly liked and bring them into the writers' room to show me. Then we'd say, 'Yeah, that's awesome, let's figure out if we can actually film that.'"

Additionally, to coincide with the film's release, "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" also received an update, adding a suit modeled after Holland's new costume, further strengthening the connection between the film and the PlayStation game.
