This summer's biggest blockbuster, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," stormed into theaters worldwide last week and, as expected, set wave after wave of box office records. In North America, its opening weekend hauled in a massive $355 million, marking the second-highest opening weekend in North American box office history. It trailed only fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe title "Avengers: Endgame," which earned a record-setting $357 million in its debut.
Some outlets speculated that with the full first-week earnings still being tallied and only preliminary estimates available, the final figure could potentially surpass "Endgame"'s $360 million. What was certain, however, was that "Brand New Day"'s North American opening weekend had already surpassed its predecessor, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which debuted with $260 million five years prior.

Furthermore, "Brand New Day" set another record in North America: teaming up with "The Odyssey" to achieve the highest single weekend total box office in North American history, raking in a combined $430 million. This surpassed the $402 million record set during "Endgame"'s opening weekend. Internationally, "Brand New Day" pulled in over $550 million. Combined with its North American performance, its global first week grossed $930 million, making it the second-highest global opening figure in cinematic history. It trails only "Avengers: Endgame"'s seemingly insurmountable $1.2 billion global debut. "Brand New Day" continues to prove that Spider-Man remains the ultimate fan-favorite among superheroes.
