Canadian Cinema's 'Spoderman' Poster Goes Viral: Employee's Hand-Drawn Art Fills Void for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse"

As "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" continued its strong box office run, a Famous Players 6 cinema, part of the Cineplex chain in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, found itself without the official movie poster. This unexpected situation led to a hand-drawn promotional image that quickly went viral on social media.

Since the theater's outdoor display case couldn't be left empty, an employee decided to personally draw a Spider-Man poster. Adopting the well-known "Spoderman" meme style, the artwork depicted an exaggerated Spider-Man with crude lines. Alongside it, a note read: "Sorry! We never got the real poster! Apologies for any inconvenience!" This seemingly temporary replacement piece, however, garnered affection from netizens for its sincerity and humor, becoming an unconventional form of promotion for the cinema.

Many comments specifically praised the employee for choosing to hand-draw the poster instead of using AI generation. One netizen commented that they respected the person who decided to draw it by hand rather than using AI. Others hoped Marvel would make this drawing an official version, perhaps even including it as an alternate Blu-ray cover.

Canadian radio station 101.3 The River also shared the poster on Facebook. A netizen claiming to be the employee's mother revealed the artist's name was Drake. She added that her daughter said it was a huge hit, with people even stopping to take photos with it. This unofficial poster became another unexpected talking point surrounding the release of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
