Square Enix unveiled a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, titled "Guardians of the Planet," at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The trailer offers a deeper look at the game's Weapons, submarine combat, and world exploration. The game is still slated for a Spring 2027 release.
The trailer opens with Rufus Shinra addressing the citizens. As the "Meteor" approaches the planet and massive "Weapons" awaken, he emphasizes humanity's ultimate victory over the impending crisis. The footage then shows Weapons attacking Shinra troops, with Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ultimate Weapon also making appearances. There's even a scene of an airship clashing head-on with a colossal Weapon.
In terms of gameplay, the trailer reveals submarine interiors and underwater combat. Players will pilot submarines through the ocean depths, dodging enemy attacks. Additionally, Cloud and his party can parachute from airships and ride Chocobos to explore the vast world. Yuffie is also seen in an area that appears to be Wutai.
Tifa also makes an appearance in a "Black Mage" job outfit, further showcasing the design that allows players to change character combat styles via the FITS system. While an exact release date hasn't been announced yet, the game is set to launch simultaneously on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
