Masami Kurumada, the 72-year-old manga artist renowned for popular works like "Saint Seiya" and "B't X," has filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court. He alleges that a former male manager, who was responsible for the financial affairs of his companies, along with other individuals, engaged in unauthorized transfers from company accounts and embezzled licensing fees. These actions reportedly resulted in losses totaling approximately 4.68 billion Japanese Yen for Kurumada's side, for which he is now seeking compensation.

The lawsuit was personally filed by Masami Kurumada. According to the complaint and other documents, Kurumada's side claims that the former male manager and others responsible for financial operations allegedly made unauthorized transfers from company bank accounts and embezzled royalties from his works over a six-year period, starting around 2018. These actions collectively caused losses exceeding 4.68 billion Japanese Yen.

Masami Kurumada expressed his dismay, stating, "To think that someone could so carelessly betray those they once trusted for their own personal gain truly makes one feel helpless and deeply disheartened by human nature." He added that he had entrusted these matters to long-term partners, rarely handling such affairs himself, and was profoundly shocked upon discovering the situation.

Kurumada's side has already recovered approximately 1.8 billion Japanese Yen. After deducting this amount, they are still seeking over 2.8 billion Japanese Yen in damages from the defendants.
The case is currently proceeding through the Tokyo District Court, which will further examine the flow of funds and the arguments presented by both parties.
Note: Financial figures and earnings forecasts should be confirmed through the company’s official announcements.
