Final Fantasy VII: Revelation Officially Set for 2027 Release, Two Story DLCs Including "Sephiroth" to Follow

Square Enix dropped a bombshell at the PlayStation State of Play showcase, announcing that Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027. This highly anticipated title will bring the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy to its epic conclusion. While the presentation only highlighted the PS5 version, official sources previously confirmed that the game will also hit Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC simultaneously.

But wait, there's more! Square Enix also confirmed that two story DLCs are slated for release within 12 months of launch. A "Story Expansion Pass" has already popped up on Steam, teasing "Story DLC 1: Sephiroth" and "Story DLC 2: Vincent and the Turks." Pricing and specific story details are still under wraps.

The latest showcase featured the full gang: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, Red XIII, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid, all making an appearance. The battle customization system is also getting a major upgrade. Side quests will now dynamically change based on which character you're controlling, and a new 2x speed fast-forward option for dialogue has been added – perfect for those who want to dive straight into the action!

And for exploration junkies, you can now literally parachute directly from the airship into the brand-new Wutai region, where you can even snap photos of cats! The fan-favorite card game "Queen's Blood" from Rebirth is also making a comeback, with Red XIII stepping into the spotlight as a new focus.
