The football manga "Blue Lock," written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, saw its live-action movie adaptation hit theaters this August, racking up impressive box office numbers. It has now soared past 1.2 billion JPY in ticket sales.
To celebrate this box office milestone, the official team unveiled a special congratulatory illustration personally drawn by Hajime Isayama, the mastermind behind "Attack on Titan." As soon as the artwork dropped, it ignited a firestorm of discussion online, with fans absolutely gushing over Isayama's incredible drawing skills.
The illustration is bursting with dynamic energy, as Isayama reinterprets "Blue Lock" protagonist Yoichi Isagi in his signature style. Eagle-eyed fans even spotted a chibi Mikasa hidden within his signature! Netizens were quick to exclaim "So cool!" and "Full of power!" after seeing it, with many instantly connecting Isagi to Eren from "Attack on Titan."
Fans flooded the comments section, saying things like: "The more I look at Yoichi Isagi, the more he looks like Eren! So cool!" "Isayama-sensei's Yoichi Isagi is just too awesome... so powerful, his drawing skill is insane!" and "It's been ages since I last saw art from Hajime Isayama-sensei! And Mikasa is in it too!"
Some fans also pointed out that Isayama had previously admitted in public that he "doesn't have any work right now" and barely draws even in his daily life. Yet, whenever these collaborative celebration illustrations pop up, Isayama consistently showcases his masterful drawing and composition skills. A prime example is his previous collaboration for the movie "Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu," where he also demonstrated incredible artistic prowess.
With the movie's box office now smashing past 1.2 billion JPY, the official release of Isayama's commemorative illustration has given fans of both "Blue Lock" and "Attack on Titan" an unexpected and delightful crossover surprise.
