In May, Fast & Furious franchise producer and star Vin Diesel — who plays family patriarch Dominic Toretto — announced at NBCUniversal's upfront presentation that as many as four live-action spinoff series were in development, with all of them headed to Peacock. Deadline now reports that Universal has officially greenlit one of those projects, targeting a 2028 premiere. The show would arrive the same year as the franchise's 11th movie, "Fast Forever," which is scheduled to hit theaters March 17, 2028.

The only project to receive a series order so far comes from Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman, veterans of the crime drama "Shades of Blue," who will serve as co-showrunners. The other three remain in development: one is being led by "Neagley" creator Nick Wootton and "The 100" writer Charmaine DeGraté, while the other two are being spearheaded separately by "Griselda" creator Ingrid Escajeda and "Lucifer" creator Joe Henderson.
