Rockstar Games recently shared a wealth of new information about "Grand Theft Auto VI" with Game Informer, revealing more about Leonida’s wildlife, ecosystems, weather, and side activities. The accompanying batch of 12 new screenshots also contains plenty of details that had yet to be shown in full.
From sunburns, freckles, and localized weight gain to puddles left behind by dynamic storms and NPCs coughing in dust kicked up by aircraft, the images offer another look at Rockstar’s commitment to world simulation. Some of these potential features are still based on media speculation drawn from the screenshots, however, and will require further confirmation from Rockstar Games.
▌Biker Gang Emerges as Rockstar Builds More Believable Interiors and Exteriors
One set of screenshots brings back the Leonida biker gang known as First Chapter. According to Game Informer, the group commands considerable influence in Ambrosia, while the image shows protagonist Jason fleeing several armed members.

A bar called The Thirsty Wolf appears to be one of First Chapter’s hangouts. Its wood-paneled interior is filled with details including beer, pool tables, and neon signs. Rockstar Games head of development Aaron Garbut said the team has made buildings more believable both inside and out, suggesting the studio is not simply expanding the scale of its streets but also giving interiors far greater depth.
Rank insignia can also be seen on the gang members’ uniforms, including one patch reading "Sergeant-at-Arms." In real-world motorcycle clubs, that position typically handles discipline and security, potentially hinting that the game’s gangs will have more clearly defined organizational structures among their NPCs.
▌Characters Can Get Sunburned and Develop Freckles — Even Weight Gain May Be Localized
Character detail is one of the most striking elements in the new screenshots. One biker’s face is visibly sunburned, with reddened skin everywhere except around his eyes, where his sunglasses blocked the sun.
Freckles are visible on another female NPC, while Rockstar Games has confirmed that character skin in "Grand Theft Auto VI" can also feature tanning, moles, and other distinctive traits.
Vice president of dynamic art Michael Kane also said the team has devoted an extraordinary amount of attention to the tattoo cultures of different communities, ensuring that designs reflect their respective regions and cultural groups. With tattoo parlors already confirmed for the game, some designs currently seen on NPCs could eventually become available to Jason and Lucia as well.
"Grand Theft Auto VI" will also feature the widest range of body types in series history. Rockstar Games confirmed that weight gain will not simply enlarge a character’s entire body; fat can accumulate separately around areas such as the chest, stomach, or buttocks. Working out at a gym, meanwhile, can add muscle definition and produce more noticeable changes to a character’s physique.
▌Will Social Media Be View-Only? Jogging and Wardrobe Systems Raise More Questions
The first "Grand Theft Auto VI" trailer prominently featured TikTok-style vertical videos, and Game Informer has now confirmed that the franchise’s in-game social platform Snapmatic will return.
Because Jason and Lucia are criminals who need to avoid leaving evidence behind, current information suggests players will be able to browse social media content but not publish posts of their own. The camera feature is still present, however, and one new screenshot shows an NPC using a DSLR camera, potentially signaling the return of photography and surveillance mechanics from earlier games.
Another image shows Jason and Lucia jogging in athletic wear through Mount Kalaga National Park. That could point to a wider selection of couples activities or even a wardrobe system that lets players prepare outfits for different occasions.
Rockstar Games has not confirmed such a feature, but Michael Kane said "Grand Theft Auto VI" will offer more clothing and accessories than any previous game in the series, complete with more realistic materials and styles that reflect Florida’s local culture and fashion trends.
▌Hunting, Fishing, and Diving Return as Weapon Customization Goes Deeper
Confirmed recreational activities include BASE jumping, canoeing, airboat rides, gym workouts, miniature golf, scuba diving, pool, and zoo visits. Hunting will also serve as a major source of side content.
A screenshot set in the Grassrivers wetlands includes traps used to catch crabs and lobsters. Although Rockstar Games has confirmed that players can fish, it remains unclear whether this equipment points to more advanced commercial or recreational trapping activities.
Another image shows Jason tracking deer with a rifle, immediately inviting comparisons to "Red Dead Redemption 2." Special animals in the game will also be divided into categories including "rare," "discoverable," and "legendary."
The weapon system appears to be getting a substantial upgrade as well. Jason’s rifle sports a woodland camouflage finish, while Lucia’s M4 is fitted with a suppressor, red-dot sight, and foregrip, suggesting deeper customization for both weapon attachments and appearances.
▌More Than 170 Animal Species Will Display Realistic Behavior
Rockstar Games has confirmed that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will feature more than 170 animal species, including over 60 types of birds and 30 species of land mammals.
The screenshots already show domestic dogs, alligators, bucks, does, ducks, seagulls, and pigeons. Two pigeons can even be seen scavenging through a pile of garbage, further suggesting that animals will follow AI-driven behavior modeled on their real-world habits rather than merely serving as environmental decoration.
Combined with previously revealed zoos, hunting activities, and legendary creatures, the natural ecosystem in "Grand Theft Auto VI" is clearly being designed as more than background scenery. It will play a larger role in exploration and side content throughout the game.
▌Storms Leave Puddles Behind as Florida’s Weather Goes Fully Dynamic
Rockstar Games has officially confirmed a fully dynamic weather system for "Grand Theft Auto VI." Vice president of art for lighting and rendering Owen Shepherd said the game features completely dynamic cloud cover capable of producing localized showers, tropical storms, and even hurricanes, recreating Florida’s famously unpredictable climate.
One screenshot shows an airplane heading directly toward a massive thunderstorm, with lightning flashing across the sky. Rainwater will not immediately disappear once a storm passes, either; layers of water and standing puddles will remain on the ground and continue affecting the environment’s appearance.
That means weather in "Grand Theft Auto VI" will do more than toggle between sunny and rainy conditions. Instead, it appears to be an evolving simulation that leaves visible traces across the world.
▌NPCs Cough in an Airplane’s Dust Cloud as Rockstar Simulates Everyday Details
Perhaps the clearest example of Rockstar’s ambition comes from an otherwise unassuming screenshot of Tucker's Citrus Farms. Workers can be seen harvesting oranges and packing the fruit into crates. Located near the border between Leonida and Gloriana—the game’s counterpart to the Florida-Georgia state line—the farm helps establish the more rural character of northern Leonida.
More notably, a low-flying airplane overhead kicks up a huge cloud of dust. One NPC is visibly coughing, while another crouches down in an apparent attempt to avoid breathing it in.
Unless the moment was staged specifically for the promotional screenshot, it suggests the game’s environmental physics may be sophisticated enough for aircraft to disturb vegetation and dust, with those particles subsequently affecting NPC behavior.
From gang culture, character skin, body types, and wildlife to weather, farms, and NPC reactions to environmental changes, these new screenshots may not be showcasing one enormous standalone feature. Instead, they reveal Rockstar Games’ broader attempt to make Leonida feel like a living world that continues functioning even when the player does nothing at all.
How many of the systems hinted at in these images will fully appear in the finished game remains to be seen when "Grand Theft Auto VI" launches.
