Sumiko Arai’s manga The Guy I'm Interested In Isn't a Guy announced its anime adaptation when the third collected volume was released in February 2025. The series is now officially set to premiere in January 2027.
On October 9, the production team unveiled the anime’s first promotional video and announced five new cast members: Kenjiro Tsuda, Tasuku Hatanaka, Yurina Amami, Maiko Nomura, and Fairouz Ai.
The Guy I'm Interested In Isn't a Guy is a coming-of-age story powered by music and teenage emotions. High schooler Aya Osawa cannot stop thinking about the handsome guy working at her local record store. Then she discovers that her mysterious crush is actually Mitsuki Koga, the quiet, unassuming girl from her own class.
That unexpected revelation sets the story in motion, following the two girls as music gradually brings them closer together.
Alongside the new trailer, the previously announced lead cast includes Mariya Ise as Mitsuki Koga and Akari Kito as Aya Osawa.
The newly revealed supporting cast features Kenjiro Tsuda as Mitsuki’s uncle Joe, Tasuku Hatanaka as Aya’s classmate Narita, Yurina Amami as Chizuru, Maiko Nomura as Kanna, and Fairouz Ai as Joe’s ex-girlfriend Mao.
