The theatrical prequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO, was officially confirmed on October 9 for a January 15, 2027 release in Japanese theaters!
To mark the occasion, the official team will hold the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO Theatrical Release Commemorative Fair in animate,” complete with new visuals showing the cast in casual outfits. Most of the lineup features established couples—but then there is the pairing of Yzak Jule and Dearka Elthman. Naturally, fans wasted no time joking that the visual had finally made them an officially sanctioned couple.
The event visual features Shinn Asuka with Lunamaria Hawke, Kira Yamato with Lacus Clyne, and Athrun Zala with Cagalli Yula Athha—three pairs whose romantic relationships are firmly established in the story.
And then, right in the middle of that couples lineup, we get Yzak Jule and Dearka Elthman. Look closer and even their outfits are perfectly coordinated: both wear long coats with fur-style scarves, with Yzak dressed in lighter shades and Dearka in darker tones. The contrast feels almost too perfectly planned.
Of course, fans have been shipping Yzak and Dearka since the original Mobile Suit Gundam SEED era. Their friendship has always carried some unmistakably strong BL subtext.
SEED fans immediately picked up on the detail when the visual dropped. With the two wearing contrasting colors while standing among a lineup of couples, those who know, know.
Fans even pointed out the contrasting colors of their scarves. At this point, the coordination is impossible to ignore.
