VTuber Group "Aogiri High School" Announces Operational Overhaul, Cancels Major Event as Fans Voice Concern

Japanese VTuber group "Aogiri High School" has faced a string of setbacks in recent weeks. A solo live concert by member Chiyoura Chiyomi was postponed, reportedly resulting in significant losses, while the group also announced that Kurikoma Komaru (栗駒こまる) would suspend her activities over contract-related issues. No timetable has been given for her return.

On October 15, Aogiri High School issued another announcement, stating that it would conduct a comprehensive review of its livestream operations, content production, and support structure for its members. The group also canceled a music festival scheduled for December, prompting fans to voice concerns about the state of its management and the future of its talent.

According to Aogiri High School's latest statement, the group had already announced in September that updates and video releases on its official YouTube channel would be temporarily suspended while it reorganized its operations. The new statement provides an update on the operational review, future activity plans, the resumption of uploads to the official channel, and the music festival originally scheduled for late December.

Review of the Operational Structure

We once again offer our deepest apologies for the concern and inconvenience caused by recent operational failures, including the postponement of livestream events and the accidental reposting of an external post by our official X account. As part of the previously announced restructuring plan, we have begun implementing the following measures to address these issues.

■ Event Production and Execution Process

Following the postponement of the livestream event originally scheduled for September, we have clearly defined the responsibilities of each project's managers and staff. We have also revised our production process to include progress checks at every stage of preparation. If an issue arises, it will be immediately reported to the person in charge, allowing them to assess the situation and make timely decisions. This new workflow is already being implemented.

■ Management and Operation of Official Accounts

We sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused when our official X account accidentally reposted an external post on October 4, 2026. In response, we have reviewed how our official accounts are managed, including the devices used, account permissions, and the verification process required before posts are published.

■ Overall Policy for Content Planning, Production, and Distribution

We will continue to value creative freedom and a willingness to take on new challenges while complying with applicable laws and each platform's terms of service. The company will take responsibility for planning, producing, and distributing content with full consideration for rights, safety, and privacy. We will continue implementing these improvements to build a stronger operational structure capable of delivering our content consistently.

Future Activity Plans

To introduce each member's appeal to a wider audience, we will place greater emphasis on their individual channels and activities. The company will support each member's preferred direction through planning, production, business coordination, and rights clearance. Staff time and resources previously dedicated to producing content for the official channel will also be redirected toward expanding support for individual members.

Group activities under the Aogiri High School name and collaborative projects featuring multiple members will continue. We remain committed to the humor and boundary-pushing spirit that have long defined the group. For each project, we will select the most suitable lineup of members and format to deliver compelling new content.

Resumption of Uploads to the Official YouTube Channel

The official YouTube channel will gradually resume uploading videos beginning in October. Going forward, we will adjust the volume of releases and focus on content uniquely suited to the official channel, including projects that require multiple members to participate. At the same time, we will devote more resources to individual activities so that each member's distinct personality can reach a wider audience.

Late-December Music Festival Update for Aogiri High School Entrance Festival 2026! Attendees

During our review of the operational structure, we reassessed the preparation process and production framework for the music festival announced at Aogiri High School Entrance Festival 2026! and originally scheduled for late December. After evaluating the situation and considering our future activity plans, we concluded that, under the current circumstances, we could not responsibly deliver a performance that would satisfy our audience. We have therefore decided to cancel the music festival.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the event or had already arranged their schedules, both for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation and for our delay in providing an explanation. Tickets had not yet gone on sale and registration had not opened, so no action is required. We will continue evaluating the most appropriate formats for future projects and events involving multiple members, with further announcements to follow once details have been finalized.

Notably, fans began pointing to a growing number of operational problems after producer and former operating-company representative Shinichiro Fujii, affectionately known by members and fans as the "Principal," formally stepped down on May 26, 2026. Output from the group's once-central official YouTube channel also declined, leading some fans to argue that the operation had lost much of its former momentum following his departure.

Fujii had been a key figure behind the group since the Aogiri High School Game Club era in 2018 and played an instrumental role in rebuilding Aogiri High School after it separated from Unlimited. He produced many of the Shorts that first drew widespread attention to the official YouTube channel. His departure after eight years left many fans disappointed, and the group's current difficulties have only deepened those concerns.

Aogiri High School is also approaching its eighth anniversary this year, making the current state of its operations particularly worrying for fans. Nearly all members remain active as usual apart from Kurikoma Komaru, whose suspension has been formally announced. For now, however, supporters can only wait for further updates on how the restructuring will affect the group.

Note: Financial figures and earnings forecasts should be confirmed through the company’s official announcements.
