"Star Detective Precure!" x "Magical DoReMi" Crossover Episode Confirmed—Four Cures Suit Up as Witch Apprentices!

The 23rd entry in the Pretty Cure franchise, Star Detective Precure!, has kept fans talking from its title reveal and character announcements all the way through its broadcast debut—and it is bringing even more viewers into the long-running magical-girl phenomenon.

On October 16, the official team announced a crossover with Magical DoReMi. Episode 39 of Star Detective Precure!, scheduled to air on October 25, will feature a special one-episode collaboration between the two series. The four Cures will suit up as witch apprentices for a Halloween adventure fans will not want to miss.

Episode 39 Synopsis

Anna and the others are busy making costumes and props for Halloween. At Anna's suggestion, the local shopping district holds its first-ever Halloween event, filling the streets with costumed visitors happily collecting candy. While helping out with the festivities, Anna and her friends meet a young girl named Hinano, who has become separated from her mother.

They decide to help Hinano find her mother and learn that she has been busy caring for Hinano's little brother. The group agrees to walk around the shopping district with Hinano before taking her home. As they chat about her costume, Ageseine of the Phantom Thieves' Guild suddenly appears dressed as a witch and steals Hinano's precious broom, which contains a Makoto Jewel.

Anna and the others leave Hinano in Jett's care and race after Ageseine. However, the trail left by her witch costume abruptly disappears. Deducing that Ageseine must have changed disguises while escaping, the group realizes their own costumes have already been spotted. To avoid being recognized, Anna and her friends decide to change into a completely different set of outfits—

The crossover visual was drawn especially for the occasion by Magical DoReMi character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi. It captures a one-of-a-kind meeting between Cure Answer and Doremi in a brand-new illustration created for the collaboration.

All four members of the CUREtto Detective Agency have even been redrawn with Magical DoReMi-style proportions. At this point, calling their new looks costumes might be underselling it—they have practically transformed into another anime entirely. Following the naming style used during the witch-apprentice transformations in Magical DoReMi, the four are dubbed Anna-chi, Mikuru-chi, Kurea-chi, and Luluka-chi.

A new merchandise collection has also been announced to celebrate the crossover. Pretty Store and other retailers have already begun selling acrylic stands and additional items featuring the collaboration artwork. Online preorders are scheduled to open at 1:00 p.m. on October 16.

This may be an unusually extensive crossover, but it is not the first time the Pretty Cure and Magical DoReMi franchises have crossed paths.

Looking for Magical Doremi, the 2020 theatrical film celebrating Magical DoReMi, previously made a cameo through its movie poster in Episode 16 of Healin' Good♥Pretty Cure, which was airing at the time.

In many ways, Magical DoReMi is a senior to the Pretty Cure franchise. Both series were also produced by Toei Animation. Seeing this magical-girl classic return to the world of Sunday-morning anime is a nostalgia-powered treat.

Whether you love both franchises or proudly champion just one, do not miss this special crossover episode!
