Atelier A27 "Atelier Calia" Adds Food-Powered Body Changes, Letting Players Lock In Anything from Slim to Curvy

The next entry in the Atelier series is Atelier Calia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, also known by its series code A27. Following Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land, the new game puts a fresh spin on its predecessor’s ideas. Its biggest hook is Calia’s unusual gift: she can eat and analyze all kinds of things to gain new powers, changing both her appearance and abilities in the process.

Following the results of a player survey, KOEI TECMO GAMES has now confirmed that Calia’s eating habits will alter her physique, taking her from slim to curvy. Unsurprisingly, the playful mechanic has already attracted plenty of attention.

The feature has been a hot topic since the survey began in July. When the interim results were released in August, roughly 80% of respondents had already given it their approval.

Based on more than 38,000 player responses, the final results showed broad support for adding body-shape changes. A total of 78.9% said the game would be better with the feature, while 9.7% preferred not to have it. The remaining 11.4% said they either had no preference or did not care.

When asked which specific option they wanted most, 62.8% chose the ability to lock in their preferred body type. The newly announced physique-lock feature was added in direct response to that feedback. The official team also released a large collection of comparison images showing Calia’s different looks.

Players can freely decide whether Calia’s appearance changes as she eats throughout the game or set their favorite physique from the outset. Either way, A27 gives players plenty of control over how its new heroine looks.

Atelier Calia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories is scheduled for release on February 25, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Physical editions will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with preorders now open through major retailers.
