In October 2025, Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation announced that they were teaming up on a new original anime, KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara. Centered on a story about monsters and a young girl, the project marks the latest chapter in the KAIJU DECODE transmedia franchise.
Today, October 18, the companies confirmed that KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara is scheduled for release in 2027, while also unveiling its third key visual and a new trailer.
The KAIJU DECODE transmedia project has previously expanded its world through a short anime, the VR anime KAIJU DECODE -first contact-, and the MR game KAIJU DECODE -super multiverse MR-.
Synopsis for the original anime KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara:
In 2070, a supernova explosion causes multiple space stations to crash into Earth, inflicting catastrophic damage across the planet. The incident becomes known as the Skyfall Calamity. It also brings unknown bacteria from space to Earth, where they erode or assimilate terrestrial matter and give rise to entirely new lifeforms known as Transcendent Beings.
Humanity designates the dangerous lands inhabited by these creatures as the "ZONE," sealing them off while building a separate society known as the "CITY." There, people live peacefully, freed from the limitations of the body, brain, space, and time.
Maru, a boy living peacefully in the CITY, and Koko, an Aidara girl left behind in the ZONE, come from completely opposing worlds. Together, they begin searching for a path that will allow them to coexist.
The newly released third key visual shows Koko, a girl from the Aidara tribe, smiling gently as she reaches out toward the monster GIILA. The image captures her compassion for monsters and the beliefs that drive her.
The new trailer also features footage from the anime itself. Along with an early look at the animation, it offers the first chance to hear Aya Yamane as Maru and Karin Takahashi as Koko.
The trailer introduces Maru, a boy who hunts monsters for a living in a society where the real and virtual worlds coexist, and Koko, a girl who dreams of living alongside them. With the two poised to forge a new story together, this ambitious monster epic is already shaping up to be one to watch.
