"Yanineko" Pop-Up Merch Puts Yani and Kansai Neko in a Steamy "Photo Shoot," and Fans Are Losing It: "The Landlord's About to Unleash the Dragon Again..."

Premiering in July, the TV anime Yanineko, adapted from the manga of the same name, delivers a brutally realistic—and spectacularly filthy—look at the lives of smokers and people battling all kinds of addictions. Its polished production and wildly absurd story have earned plenty of praise from fans.

Sofmap recently announced an advance-sale event featuring new merchandise with original artwork. This time, the spotlight is on a steamy “photo shoot” starring Yanineko and Kansai Neko—a first for the anime’s official merchandise. Fans immediately chimed in with comments like, “I had no idea they could be this sexy,” and “The landlord isn’t going to survive this...”

Sofmap FES will run from October 28 through November 15, with advance sales held at participating locations including the Akihabara Amusement Building and Ikebukuro store. The lineup features Yanineko merchandise based on the newly drawn “photo shoot” artwork.

Of course, the main attractions are impossible to miss: Yanineko rocking a red bikini and Kansai Neko pulling down her shorts to flash her backside. These two illustrations will headline the pop-up collection.

The moment the key visual dropped, fans piled in—and plenty had the exact same thought: there is absolutely no way the landlord can handle outfits like these.

One fan joked, “Is this really the kind of merch Yanineko viewers actually want...?”

Another demanded, “Yanineko and Kansai get to show off, but we need Mama Shizue too!”

The collection covers the usual merch staples, including badges, illustration boards, acrylic stands, and sleep masks featuring the “photo shoot” artwork—plus a 3D mouse pad. Other items include badges and acrylic stands with chibi characters in pajamas, anime-scene badges, collectible cards, and more.

Spend ¥2,000 and you’ll receive a bonus postcard. That image selection? They knew exactly what they were doing.

Customers who spend ¥3,000 will also receive a bonus sticker featuring the cast in their chibi pajama looks.
