Universal Studios Japan keeps its collaboration calendar packed with fresh surprises, but its annual Universal Cool Japan event remains one of the park’s biggest crowd magnets.
On October 20, Universal Studios Japan announced that its annual Detective Conan World event will return with three experiences: a mystery escape game, a themed restaurant, and a story attraction aboard Hollywood Dream - The Ride. The event opens on February 10, 2027.
First launched in 2017, Detective Conan World has drawn huge crowds by recreating the franchise on an impressive scale, combining high production values with tense, thrilling, and highly immersive puzzle-solving experiences. The event is now officially set to return in 2027.
This year’s lineup features three major attractions: the mystery escape game Detective Conan: The Escape, the themed Detective Conan Live Restaurant, and Detective Conan x Story Ride aboard Hollywood Dream - The Ride.
The real-life puzzle-solving game Detective Conan: The Escape will be held at Stage 18. Full details for both the escape game and Detective Conan x Story Ride will be announced at a later date. Previous editions have typically tied into the year’s new Detective Conan movie, so fans can expect more clues from Universal Studios Japan down the line.
The restaurant experience, which blends gourmet dining with mystery-solving, will receive its first complete overhaul of both venue and format since debuting in 2018. The experience is moving to the lavish new Peacock Theater, where guests can fully step into the world of Detective Conan through an entertainment restaurant promising an unprecedented level of live, immersive action.
Each edition has continued to expand its attractions, restaurants, food, and merchandise, giving guests the chance to investigate alongside Conan Edogawa and other fan-favorite characters. It all adds up to a complete theme-park experience built around the franchise’s signature mix of mystery and adventure.
The annual Detective Conan collaboration has become a Universal Studios Japan staple, and the 2027 edition is once again expected to connect with the franchise’s latest theatrical release. Detective Conan World runs from February 10 through June 30, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to plan their visit.
