Released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, the 'RG (Real Grade)' Gunpla series, which incorporates exterior armor, internal frames, interlocking armor, and new technologies into the 1/144 scale, today announced the commercialization of its latest work from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": "RG 1/144 Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII". A prototype was exhibited at the '62nd All Japan Model & Hobby Show'.
The ZGMF-56E2 Impulse Gundam SpecII is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after the previous war, severely damaged, and then repaired and improved by Morgenroete with the latest technology. After replacing the energy system with new batteries, the color of the VPS armor becomes deeper when activated. It can also be wirelessly charged from the Hyper Duetrion Beam Supply System launched by the Destiny Gundam SpecII. The rest of its armaments remain largely unchanged, still capable of equipping Force, Sword, and Blast Silhouette packs, and can also mount the massive external equipment "Tactical Striker M.E.T.E.O.R".
The overall design and structure of the "RG 1/144 Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII" largely follow the previously released standard Sword Impulse. It features the RG series' characteristic high-density detailed sculpting, excellent color separation and part division design, and a rich variety of decal stickers. It also recreates the separation and combination mechanism of the four components: Chest Flyer, Leg Flyer, Core Splendor, and Sword Silhouette pack. The difference lies in the molded color of all armor parts being replaced with a red and black scheme, reproducing the deep VPS armor color characteristic of SpecII.
