To entice moviegoers back to theaters, cinemas worldwide are stepping up their popcorn bucket game. Following the "Alien: Romulus" Alien-themed bucket and "Deadpool & Wolverine"'s famously suggestive design, the highly anticipated "Gladiator II," sequel to "Gladiator" and set for a November 2024 release, now has its own unique popcorn bucket.
According to a reveal by DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm), the bucket is designed to resemble the Roman Colosseum. Not only is it a miniature, movie-snack-holding replica, but it also features a QR code. When scanned with a smartphone, the Colosseum-shaped bucket transforms into an arena for an AR gladiatorial battle, making for a remarkably elaborate and clever design.

Following the reveal of the "Gladiator II" Colosseum popcorn bucket, it quickly captured the attention of movie fans online. Many called it "incredibly cool," with some even suggesting using it as a toy playset for their action figures to stage their own gladiatorial combat.
"Gladiator II" sees director Sir Ridley Scott, known for "Blade Runner" and "Prometheus," return to the helm after 23 years. The screenplay is penned by David Scarpa, a frequent collaborator with Scott. The film is slated for a North American release on November 22, 2024.
