Eddie Redmayne on "Fantastic Beasts" Future: "I Think It's Probably the Last Time We'll See Newt"

More than two years have passed since the release of "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," the latest installment in the "Harry Potter" prequel spin-off series, "Fantastic Beasts," with no news of further sequels in development. Despite facing mixed reviews since the second film, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," fans of the Wizarding World still hold out hope for new cinematic adventures.

However, British actor Eddie Redmayne, who portrays Newt Scamander, recently offered a perhaps unsurprising but nonetheless disappointing answer during an interview with ComicBook.

"I think that's probably the last time we'll see Newt," Redmayne stated. "That's the most honest answer I can give, and it's what I know right now. Of course, you could ask Warner Bros. or J.K. Rowling, but as far as I'm aware, the series is finished. I imagine he might make a brief appearance in the new Universal Studios Florida park, perhaps offering a glimpse of his activities in Paris."

While the first film in the "Fantastic Beasts" series, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," garnered significant critical acclaim and strong box office results in 2016, subsequent installments like "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" and "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" saw a notable decline in both box office performance and critical reception. The third film's box office gross, in particular, was only half of the original's, a predictable yet regrettable outcome.
