The Wayans Family Reunites for "Scary Movie" Reboot, Returns to Big Screen After 18 Years

The iconic horror-comedy franchise "Scary Movie," originally crafted by the Wayans family—Keenen Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Marlon Wayans—is set to return to the big screen with a brand-new reboot film. This marks their highly anticipated reunion after an 18-year hiatus from the series.

The development of a sixth "Scary Movie" installment was first announced at CinemaCon in April, though details regarding the director and screenwriters were initially kept under wraps. Now, Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans have confirmed in a statement that they will collaborate with Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman and other team members, and have already begun writing the new script for the reboot.

The upcoming sixth "Scary Movie" film is slated for a 2025 release. Miramax is producing the project, with Paramount Pictures handling distribution. Neal H. Moritz, known for his work as a producer on the live-action "Sonic the Hedgehog" films, will also serve as a producer for this new installment.
