Following the launch of "Absolute Batman" and "Absolute Wonder Woman," DC has unveiled a first look at "Absolute Superman" ahead of its November 6, 2024 release, teasing a radical overhaul of the hero's origin story.

"Absolute Superman" is helmed by writer Jason Aaron (known for his work on "Wolverine" and "Ghost Rider"), with art by Rafa Sandoval, who will introduce readers to a vastly different Krypton. The preview pages suggest that a clerical class known as the "Science Guild" is responsible for the planet's inevitable doom, having over-exploited its resources and red sun.
The story will also place a heavy focus on Clark Kent's—or rather, Kal-El's—mother, Lara Lor-Van, highlighting the stark class disparity that prevents her from joining the ruling guild. Meanwhile, the series raises a crucial question to be answered in the first issue: is Jor-El still Superman's father?

In a recent interview, writer Jason Aaron also teased the direction for the second issue of "Absolute Superman." He revealed that the Man of Steel will confront an army of "Peacemakers," who are not even the main villains of the series—but merely the henchmen for a much larger threat.

Of course, fans can expect to see the hero's most famous adversary, Lex Luthor, make an appearance. However, Aaron emphasized that since this is the "Absolute Universe," this version of Lex will definitely not be the one most people are expecting.
