Despite earlier statements from the showrunner of DC's "The Batman" spinoff series "The Penguin" indicating no plans to feature prominent villains like Joker or Harley Quinn—to avoid overshadowing the series' main characters—this doesn't mean the production team isn't keen on developing a dedicated standalone series or film for Barry Keoghan's 'Prince of Crime'.

During a recent episode of the "Marvelvision" podcast, media personality Derek Faraci revealed that Barry Keoghan's Joker is not expected to make his debut in the upcoming "The Batman" sequel. Instead, the character is reportedly slated for a formal introduction in a spinoff series, much like "The Penguin," before officially becoming the primary antagonist in a potential "The Batman 3."
This strategy mirrors the currently airing "The Penguin" series, which serves as a narrative bridge between 2022's "The Batman" and its upcoming sequel. By the same logic, this rumored Joker series would then connect "The Batman 2" and "The Batman 3."
Notably, director Matt Reeves has previously referred to this shared cinematic and television universe, encompassing films and spinoffs, as the "Batman Epic Crime Saga," lending further credence to the rumors of a potential Joker series.
