The critically acclaimed fantasy film "Wonka," released in 2023 and grossing $632 million worldwide, is officially getting a sequel. Director Paul King confirmed the news during an interview with HeyUGuys, stating that a follow-up is now in active development to craft new fantastical adventures for Timothée Chalamet's Willy Wonka.

King told HeyUGuys that while "Wonka 2" is still in its early stages, about half of the script is complete, and the team has a story they are very happy with. He added that they are eager to explore where Wonka's journey will take him next and that the plot will include elements of international travel, which he noted was the only detail he could reveal at this time.

In addition to the developing "Wonka 2," Paul King also served as a story writer for the third installment in the beloved "Paddington" film series, "Paddington in Peru." That film is set to hit North American theaters on January 17, 2025. Furthermore, a fourth "Paddington" movie has already been announced and is slated for release between 2027 and 2028.
