Despite J.K. Rowling's involvement in the "Fantastic Beasts" film series, which ultimately saw its planned five-part saga shelved due to poor critical reception and underwhelming box office performance, the author's role in the upcoming HBO "Harry Potter" reboot has been a major talking point. As the series enters its casting phase, speculation has mounted regarding whether the production team will continue to collaborate with the controversial author, known for her remarks on transgender issues.

Addressing these concerns, HBO CEO Casey Bloys recently spoke to reporters at the HBO 2025 preview event held at The London West Hollywood. He stated that Rowling's involvement is "quite high," noting her active participation in selecting writers and directors.
While HBO has yet to officially cast the three main protagonists—Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger—Bloys further indicated that Rowling would likely offer her opinions on casting. However, he emphasized that this would not "impact our hiring of talent for casting, writing, or the production team, and we haven't experienced any negative effects."

In fact, after the "Fantastic Beasts" series halted production and Warner Bros. Discovery rebranded the long-running official "Wizarding World" website, WizardingWorld.com, to HarryPotter.com, many speculated that the company was pursuing a "de-Rowling" strategy to distance itself from the controversies.
However, Casey Bloys' latest statements have debunked these unconfirmed rumors. Further updates on the series' development are still awaited.
