The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of "How to Train Your Dragon," set to premiere in 2025, has unveiled its first official still. Following previous cast announcements for key characters like Hiccup, Astrid, and Stoick, Empire Magazine has now released an exclusive image featuring Mason Thames ("The Black Phone") in costume as the titular Viking protagonist, Hiccup.
The newly released still depicts Hiccup in his early days as a young Viking, a faithful recreation of his animated counterpart. Based on the original animated film's narrative, this scene likely captures the moment Hiccup must feign a battle with Toothless to convince the people of Berk that dragons are not creatures to be slaughtered.
While the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon" has yet to officially reveal the appearance of Toothless, images purporting to show the dragon's design have begun circulating online. However, the authenticity of these leaked designs remains unconfirmed.
Dean DeBlois, who directed all three acclaimed DreamWorks animated "How to Train Your Dragon" films, returns to helm the live-action movie and also penned the screenplay. The film is slated for a North American release on June 13, 2025.
