"Moana" Live-Action: First Set Photos Reveal Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Maui Look – And Those Muscles Are...

Beyond the upcoming animated sequel "Moana 2," hitting the big screen soon, Disney's live-action "Moana" film is also drawing significant attention. Recently, several candid set photos have surfaced on social media, offering the first glimpse of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's transformation into Maui, sparking immediate buzz and discussion.

Early glimpses of Johnson's transformation into the demigod Maui quickly circulated online:

The leaked set photos reveal Johnson sporting a powerful, tattooed physique reminiscent of Maui. However, a closer look shows that his costume is actually a "fake muscle suit." Creases around the arms and torso offer a hint, and a subtle opening appears to be discreetly hidden along the spine, likely for ease of wear. Despite these details, the overall effect remains remarkably natural.

In addition to the muscle suit, Johnson is seen wearing Maui's iconic whale tooth necklace and long black hair, faithfully recreating the demigod's animated appearance.

While Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui in the live-action "Moana"—a character he originally voiced in the animated film—another DreamWorks adaptation, the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon," will also see an original voice actor return. Gerard Butler, who voiced Hiccup's father, Stoick the Vast, will continue to portray the character in the upcoming live-action movie.

The live-action "Moana" film is currently still in production. Meanwhile, the animated sequel "Moana 2" is set to premiere in North American theaters on November 27, 2024.
